"Things were a little bit different this year." How often have you heard that in 2020? For one thing we were only allowed 40 starting times for the final day of the Championship. The Committee therefore was forced to have a cut after Wednesday's first round, 20 of the lowest Gross and 20 of the lowest Net players. Because of that limitation they had to do away with flights by age as well.

Tony Smith pretty much brought the course to its knees with an 8 birdie, 2 bogey first round of 66. He had a 5 shot lead over Greg Schweitzer, our 2017 & 2018 Senior Champion, and Rob Ursum. The second round was on Friday the 13th. And all the cruel and evil spirits associated with that date visited Tony. While Greg maintained a steady pace, shooting another 1 under 71, Tony's wheels fell off quickly and totally with a front nine 42 and a total of 81. None of the other challengers made a run at Greg. His 71 was the only sub-par round of the day.

In the Net Championship, Craig Hammer led wire to wire with rounds of 69 and 71. Steve Alshire gave him some heat with two net rounds under par as well.
